The Book Nook #1 – Secrets of the home wood, The Sacrifice

Drawing (6)

Welcome to the Book Nook, a new regular feature series here on Film and Nerd TV that aims to show case up and coming as well as established authors work.

This week the first inductee to the nook is author Julie Whitley, the creator of Secrets of the home wood and The seasons of perception.

Secrets of the home woods synopsis reads as the following:

For Jonathon, the Home Wood that borders his grandfather’s farm has always been a source of mystery and dread. Strange half-heard rumours passed among aunts, uncles and cousins never quite add up. More than twenty years ago, his father-when he was Jonathon’s age-was swallowed up by the Home Wood for more than a day and came back badly injured. That was when his grandfather forbade any family member from venturing back there. And so when, from his bedroom window one morning, Jonathon sees his father once again cross into the Home Wood, he knows something is very wrong. Deceiving his grandfather, Jonathon sets out after his father and makes his way, for the first time in his life, into the woods. What he finds there is beyond even his wildest imagination.

If this has peaked your interest you can read the first three chapters of this novel for free (Something i would highly recommend).

Secrets of the home wood has received several five star reviews on amazon, with many positive comments.

Secrets of the Home Wood takes you into the realm of suspense with a story that has richly developed characters. The mystery of the secret gives the feeling of something dangerous with an element of fantasy. The backstory and depth is unique and can be compared to many modern day authors. This book is definitely one to put on your list to read. Similar to the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, this book gives the reader the feeling of being transported to a fictional realm under war.

Secrets of the Home Wood is a suspenseful fantasy book that is perfect for anyone looking for adventure. Julie Whitely has done an amazing job capturing your attention at the beginning and never letting go. I would definitely recommend this book.

As a fellow author i can tell you support and feedback are key to a writers success.
